1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Plynt ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, downloading our app, or using our website or services (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Plynt is
Plynt is a personal finance planning and education tool built for India. It helps you:
- Track income, expenses, assets, loans, insurance, and goals
- See your Family Safety Score and financial readiness
- Estimate retirement needs, tax savings, emergency fund gaps, and more
- Explore scenarios and ask questions via AI Coach
What Plynt is not:
- A bank, broker, insurer, or mutual fund distributor
- A SEBI-registered investment adviser (RIA) or research analyst
- A tax filing service or chartered accountancy firm
- A lender or credit provider
We do not execute trades, sell financial products, earn commissions on recommendations, or hold your money.
3. Who can use Plynt
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be legally capable of entering a binding contract under Indian law
- You must provide accurate registration information
- One person should not maintain multiple accounts to abuse the Service
4. Your account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials confidential
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access
- Providing accurate financial information — plan outputs are only as good as the data you enter
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or are used fraudulently.
5. Not financial, tax, or legal advice
Important: All content, scores, projections, reports, and AI Coach responses are for general informational and educational purposes only.
- They are not personalised investment advice under SEBI regulations
- They are not a substitute for a qualified financial adviser, chartered accountant, or lawyer
- They do not consider every detail of your personal situation
- Past performance assumptions do not guarantee future results
- Tax calculations are estimates based on rules we implement — actual tax liability may differ
Before making significant financial decisions — investing, buying insurance, prepaying loans, changing tax regime, or any transaction involving substantial money — consult a licensed professional.
You use Plynt and act on its outputs at your own risk.
6. AI Coach
The AI Coach uses automated language models. Responses may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. They should not be treated as authoritative advice.
- Do not enter Aadhaar, PAN, bank account numbers, or other sensitive identifiers in chat
- Verify important figures against your own records and official sources
- We may log conversations for safety, quality, and abuse prevention
7. Calculations and data
We work hard to keep our financial engine accurate and up to date with Indian tax slabs, common planning rules, and market assumptions. However:
- Laws, tax rules, and product terms change — we may not reflect every change immediately
- Rounding, assumptions, and simplified models may differ from exact real-world outcomes
- We do not guarantee any specific financial result
You are responsible for reviewing outputs and correcting your input data in the app.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or our systems without authorisation
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or bulk-extract data from the Service
- Upload malware, spam, or harmful content
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Use automated bots to overload or disrupt the Service
- Resell or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission
We may investigate violations and cooperate with law enforcement where required.
9. Family and household features
If you add family members or invite a co-owner, you confirm that you have the right to share that information and that other adults you add have consented where required.
You are responsible for how household data is used within your account. We are not liable for disputes between household members regarding shared plan data.
10. Legacy — Family Financial Continuity
Legacy is an optional feature that lets you store sensitive financial information and share it with trusted contacts. By enabling and using Legacy, you agree to the following additional terms:
Your responsibility
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of information you enter in Legacy
- You are responsible for choosing who to share your Legacy data with — Plynt does not verify the identity or trustworthiness of your trusted contacts
- Sharing is your explicit action — we never share Legacy data without your instruction
Encryption and security
- Legacy data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM in our database
- Uploaded documents are stored with server-side encryption on AWS S3
- While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure — you use Legacy at your own risk
- Do not rely on Plynt as the sole copy of critical documents — maintain offline backups
Sharing and access
- When you share Legacy with a trusted contact, they receive an email with a masked preview — full details are visible only after they create a Plynt account
- Share links expire after 30 days and can be revoked by you at any time
- Once a trusted contact has viewed the data, Plynt cannot guarantee they have not copied or saved it externally
- You indemnify Plynt against any disputes arising from sharing Legacy data with contacts you selected
Heir and succession information
- Legacy allows you to record heir designations and succession preferences — this is for informational and organisational purposes only
- Recording heirs in Plynt does not constitute a legal will, testament, or binding succession document under Indian law
- To create a legally binding will, consult a qualified lawyer and register the will at a Sub-Registrar office
- Plynt's explanation of nominee vs legal heir is educational — it is not legal advice
Document uploads
- You may upload documents (PDFs, images) to Legacy — you confirm you have the right to store these documents
- Do not upload illegal, harmful, or third-party copyrighted material without authorisation
- Plynt does not review, verify, or endorse uploaded documents
- Documents are deleted permanently when you delete the associated Legacy item or your account
Will creation services
Plynt may offer connections to third-party legal professionals for will creation. These are independent service providers — Plynt is not a law firm and does not provide legal services. Any engagement with a lawyer is a separate contract between you and that professional.
No emergency access (current version)
Legacy does not currently provide automatic emergency unlock. If the account holder becomes incapacitated, trusted contacts can only access data that was explicitly shared with them before the event. We may introduce emergency access features in the future with appropriate safeguards.
11. Intellectual property
Plynt, its logo, software, financial engine, design, and content are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own planning.
You retain ownership of the financial data you enter. You grant us a licence to process that data solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
You may not copy, modify, or distribute our software or content except as permitted by law.
12. Fees and payments
Plynt may offer free and paid features. If we introduce paid plans, we will clearly display pricing before you purchase.
- Any applicable taxes will be shown at checkout
- Refund terms for paid features will be stated at the time of purchase
- We may change pricing with reasonable notice for future billing periods
13. Suspension and termination
You may delete your account at any time through Settings or by contacting support.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice where possible).
Sections that by nature should survive (disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) continue after termination.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Plynt and its founders, employees, and partners are not liable for:
- Financial losses arising from decisions you make based on the Service
- Errors in calculations, projections, or AI responses
- Unauthorized access to your account due to your failure to secure credentials
- Events outside our reasonable control (force majeure)
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or ₹5,000, whichever is greater.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Plynt harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person's rights.
16. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of India
- Courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable consumer protection laws
- We encourage you to contact us first at hello@plynt.in to resolve disputes informally
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or other mandatory Indian law.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
